Pregnancy and postpartum both ask something different of your clothes than usual: not compression, not structure, but softness and give. A body that’s changing week to week \u2014 or recovering from birth \u2014 doesn’t want fabric that has to be fought with. It wants fabric that simply moves with it.<\/p>\n

During pregnancy: room to grow, without restriction<\/h2>\n

Nj\u00e1lla leggings aren’t designed as maternity wear, but many of our customers tell us they kept wearing theirs well into pregnancy, simply because the fabric and waistband allowed for it. Our four-way stretch fabric expands with your body rather than resisting it, and our wide, soft waistband sits comfortably without a tight, narrow band digging into a growing belly.<\/p>\n

Everybody’s pregnancy is different, and what feels comfortable changes week to week \u2014 so if you’re looking for something specifically built for later-stage support, dedicated maternity wear may serve you better. But for the early and middle stages especially, many find our leggings simply keep working.<\/p>\n

Postpartum: the softness matters more than ever<\/h2>\n

In the weeks and months after birth, comfort stops being a preference and becomes a requirement. A healing body \u2014 however it healed \u2014 is often more sensitive than usual, and clothes that used to feel unremarkable can suddenly feel like too much: elastic that presses, seams that rub, fabric that feels stiff against skin that just wants to be left alone.<\/p>\n

This is where the same qualities that make Nj\u00e1lla leggings comfortable for yoga tend to matter for a completely different reason: a soft, wide waistband instead of a narrow elastic band, flat seams instead of thick stitched panels, and fabric that genuinely feels like a second skin rather than something structured. We didn’t design this specifically for postpartum bodies, but it’s exactly the kind of softness that a recovering body tends to appreciate.<\/p>\n

One thing that matters more than fabric<\/h2>\n

Every pregnancy and every recovery is different, and only you (and your care provider) really know what your body needs at any given stage. If you have specific concerns \u2014 about scarring, swelling, or anything else \u2014 it’s always worth checking with your doctor or midwife rather than relying on any pair of leggings, ours included, to solve it.<\/p>\n
